Reaction to Jane Eyre

In the history of literature , JaneEyre enters people’s soul deeply. I am attracted by the main character and itaffects my inner world .Jane Eyre’s author Charlotte Bronte , an Englishnovelist, was born in a poor priest's family. She studied in boarding schooland became a successor teacher and family teacher. In 1847, Charlotte Brontepublished the famous novel Jane Eyre, which stirred the literary world. Thenovel follows the life of Jane Eyre from childhood through adolescence andadulthood. She is portrayed as a female heroine who oversteps the gender andclass barriers of her time to pursue and secure her own happiness.
It is a novel often considered ahead ofits time due to its portrayal of the development of a thinking and passionateyoung woman who is both individualistic, desiring for a full life, while alsohighly moral. Jane evolves from her beginnings as a poor and plain womanwithout captivating charm to her mature stage as a compassionate and confidentwhole woman. As she matures, she comments much on the complexities of the humancondition. Jane also has a deeply pious personal trust in God, but is alsohighly self-reliant. Although Jane suffers much, she is never portrayed as adamsel in distress who needs rescuing. For this reason, it is sometimesregarded as an important early feminist novel.
Afterreading the book , I feel I have had a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, amarvelous figure, has left us so much to think:
1.Self-respecting andself-loving soul
“The more I am lonely, the more I haveno friends, the more I do not support, I have to respect myself.” “To loveyourself, don't put love you with all my heart, soul, and strength, as a giftto give generously, waste is not required and despised.”
Self- respect is the respect we havefor ourselves ,for our belief in our ability and in the value of what we do .Itmakes us feel confident that we can do things well and maybe even better nexttime .It is an important quality we must have if we want to achieve success inwhatever we do . People with high self-respect believe that they can finishwhatever they have started ,however ,those with low self respect have manyproblems .They are sad most of the time ,they are afraid to start activities,they can not express their ideas properly. In discussion ,they are afraid thatthey may say something wrong and may be laughed at .
Self-love is the love we also have forourselves .We should love ourselves first .If we do not love ourselves , whoelse will love us .If we want to get love from others ,we must love ourselves.Nowadays many women lose themselves ,they love their husbands and childrenbest. They live for others not four themselves .
Self-respect and self-love is thefoundation of a woman’s soul .If we want to be succeed we should have thequalities.
2.The Independent Spirit
“It is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if bothhad passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal,- as we are!”Thisis a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environmentbut continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can beinterpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.
In my mind, a woman’s beauty on theface can only make others feel that she is attractive or charming, if his orher mind isn’t the same noble as the appearance, beauty of this kind cannotlast for a long time, because other people will one day find that the beautywhich had charmed them was only a superficial one, it’s not sincere, they willnot like the person any more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a self-respectsoul, an independent spirit can be remembered forever .
An independent woman, both physicallyand mentally is important in career. Women need to cultivate the independentspirit ,they should think by themselves ,learn to take care of the other people,thus they can be the real independent .They can mature enough to make theirown decision, and they can tell what is wrong and what is right .
Independent women do not need to dependon other people ,they can solve problems by themselves .It is the symbol ofindependent spirit .
3.The Equal thought
“Our spirit is equal. Just as you and Ihave passed through the grave and stood before God as equals.”“I was feeling astrange kind of freedom and a sense of victory that I had never had before, andI finally got to the surprise of freedom.”
It is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if bothhad passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal,- as we are!
Should men and women be equal?Different people have different ideas on this issue. Some people think that menare superior to women, because men are physically strong. They are better atheavy labor work. And they can also carry on the family lines and hold theimportant positions. However, I believe that women are as capable as men.Sometimes, women can even do a lot of things better than men, for they are morecareful, patient, and responsible. Now there have been so many women leadersand women scientists in the world. we shouldn’t look down upon women. Instead,men and women should be given the equal right and chance to study and work, sothat they can do some even greater contributions to our nation.
Women should have the thought ofequality and we can fight for our equal rights. We should not look down onourselves .
WhenI think of Jane Eyre, what she gave us is a huge charm of her personality. Heridea of self-respect , independence and equality impress me so much and let us modernwomen know how to have independent individuality and self thinking . JaneEyre---this book is well worth reading .
